multiple consoles - different readings
« on: October 25, 2008, 12:05:51 PM »
I'm visiting a friend who has the Davis Vantage Pro 2 set up, and he's even more obsessive about the weather than I am - he has 4 consoles around the house.  The problem is, each one sometimes shows different readings.  For instance, right now 2 consoles say it's 55 out while the other 2 display 56.  Also, sometimes the rain readings are different - for instance while it's raining each one shows different accumulations, and after the rain has stopped they show different totals.  At first I wondered if it was simply a polling issue (each polling at different times) but I don't think that answers it in itself.

Anyone have and thoughts on what might cause this?

Doug

Is the FIRMWARE the same on each console?

Have any calibrations been input?

MY guess with the rain readings is the the console(s) are not receiving all the transmissions by the ISS. The same would probably hold ture for temperature. Were temp is concerned. The console is going to display the last temp it received from the ISS. So if the ISS send a temp of say 55 at 7:40 and sends another reading of 56 at 7:41 and two of the consoles do not get the second transmission. They will continue to display the 55 until the receive a new updated temp from the ISS.

Thanks,
Anthony

I guess that's why Davis shows the accuracy values in all of there adds.

Like + this or - that.  Well some get the consoles with the + and some get em with the -.

Why doesn't he just adjust them to all read the same. ](*,)

Also temps and precip. can vary in relatively short distances. I have 3 weathermoniter II's and a vp2 station that vary in both temp. and precip.. The stations are with in a 1/10 of a mile from each other.
