Another MAJOR Tornado Outbreak Possible
« on: May 06, 2008, 08:26:01 AM »
Professional Meteorologist Chris Sowers:
-Looks like another round of potentially deadly weather is on the way for the middle of the week across the same areas that just got hammered a couple of days ago. A major tornado outbreak is possible Wednesday afternoon and into the nighttime hours across eastern Texas, eastern Oklahoma, Arkansas, southern Missouri and Louisianna. It's still early and things could change as we closer and closer to Wednesday afternoon. continue

MAJOR Tornado Outbreak Coming....UPDATE
EXPECTED HARDEST HIT STATES  -  Texas, Oklahoma, southeastern Kansas, southern Missouri,  Louisianna,  Mississippi, Arkansas, western Kentucky and Tennessee....

TIMELINE....

WEDNESDAY ....Eastern Oklahoma, eastern Texas, southern Kansas...

WEDNESDAY NIGHT ....Arkansas, southern Missouri, northern Louisianna, northwestern Mississippi, northeastern Texas, western Tennessee, western Kentucky...

THURSDAY.....Southeastern Mississippi, central and eastern Tennessee, southeastern Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia...

It's basically last week all over again with a few minor tweaks and changes here and there. Warm and humid air will surge northward out of the Gulf of Mexico as an upper level low pressure system moves out of the front range and into the plains states. Surface winds out of the south turn southwest and eventually west-southwest with height providing plenty of shearing. Surface instability is pretty high as well with dewpoints in the 60's and lifted indicies of -5 to -8 all up and down the plains. read more

The last time I've posted about this possible tornado did hit the expected states..

Suspected tornado damages Mississippi mall
No injuries reported; northwest Alabama under storm warning

TUPELO, Miss
. - An apparent tornado spawned by storms sweeping across the Southeast damaged a shopping mall and downed power lines in northeast Mississippi on Thursday, and severe weather warnings were in effect for northwest Alabama.

Oklahoma picks up after storms
Forecasters said strong winds along the coast could generate rip currents along the beaches, but the main threat was hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. The system was expected to stall over north Alabama, giving much of the eastern part of the state a 20 percent chance of rain.

Experts there picked through debris and damage Thursday to determine whether tornadoes touched down after severe storms moved through the state, toppling trees and knocking out power to thousands of people.

A tornado reported near the southern Oklahoma town of Paoli apparently picked up a mobile home off the ground with a woman and her son inside, said Garvin County Emergency Management Director Buck Pearson.source

23 dead in Mo., Okla., Ga. after more storms
« Reply #3 on: May 13, 2008, 05:10:06 AM »
PICHER, Okla. - Crews and search dogs hunted for survivors or bodies in piles of debris Monday after tornadoes and storms rumbled across the region over the weekend and killed at least 23 people in three states.

Seven people died in Picher, once a bustling mining center of 20,000 that dwindled to about 800 people as families fled lead pollution here, and officials held out hope that they wouldn’t find any more bodies.

Residents said the tornado created a surreal scene as it tore through town Saturday afternoon, injuring 150 people, overturning cars, damaging dozens of homes and throwing mattresses and twisted metal high into the canopy of trees. continue

SEVERE WEATHER TO POUND THE SOUTH AGAIN TODAY!
Severe weather is certainly not uncommon for this time of the year as typically we tend to see at least 280 tornadoes by now across the country. But this year has been a little unusual in the sense that it has been very active much sooner than expected and its the same areas that continue to get hammered over and over again. With that said we have another very active day of severe weather ahead of us with more tornadoes and damaging winds on the way and yes.....its the same areas that are expected to get hit again!

This is another classic situation where we have an approaching cold front in the central plains moving east southeast  with a dry line extending a little ways out ahead of it. Both surface features are dividing warm and humid air to the south from cooler, drier air to the north...continue to Promet Chris Sowers

I live in Cedar Rapids Iowa and we've already had one tornado warning and two severe thunderstorm warnings so far this year, and we just got rid of the snow to.
