Title: Help with next PWS
Post by: C P RON on September 28, 2017, 05:10:49 PM
Greetings one and all, I am using a ambient w2080 weather station now.  Want to upgrade to a all in one unit(don't have room for separate sensors) .

My budget is around $200-$400 dollars for a PWS,and mast set up.

I live in a manufactured Housing development and the only place I can located a PWS would be on my home due to trees and other units around me. Thinking about using a Tripod type roof system.

Looking to have PWS send information to WU,my iPhone and older Macbook Pro laptop.

Right now very confused (*,)after looking and reading for days at different  PWS here and online.

Please help this old guy out.

Thanks C P Ron

I would have to agree with Bushman, for the quality and price you cannot beat the model he is recommending. The networking module he talks about is a custom made non mass produced interface. Check out ebay and amazon for best prices.  You  may  be able to cheat on the roof mount with a pipe that slips on or in the DWV plumbing exit on the roof.

Davis vantage Vue.  Bellfryboy aftermarket logger.  Done and done.

Thanks for the feed back.  Would I be correct, that the logger has to be plugged  into the Davis display unit and then into my laptop 24/7 to send data to WU or other sites?

My laptop is the only computer I have.

Thanks for the help.

If you buy the Serial or USB, yes the Computer needs to run 24/7. Weather Link IP or the 3rd party bridges, no.

A Raspberry Pi running Weewx is another option.  Cheap, too.
