Topic: 8" SRG, 4" Cocorahs, 8" TE Heated tipping, snowfall comparison

Thought this is worth posting. Snowfall temperatures started at 28° and ended some 14 hours later at 17°. Wind speed averaged 5-15 during majority of snowfall but eventually got high 20-42 mph after 9" had already fallen.
 
Total snowfall was measured 9-9.5".
 
Totals moisture recorded for the 3 gauges:

Heated tipping bucket- .56 (-32%) under reported
Cocorahs- .69 (-7%) under reported
8" standard NWS style- .74 (this was the standard for comparison)

Heated Tipping buckets  are well known to under report primarily from evaporation and rising heat which can deflect falling flakes.

9-9.5" inches before the high wind started moving it around. I reported 9" (.69) to Coco, airport reported 9.7" (.77)
When I brought the 8" in and melted it came in at .74 so closer to airport. 

That was the manual 8" gauge at airport, The ASOS had .67

Thought I should do an update. Today's snow Cocorahs (.32), 8" diameter SRG (.33). The big difference in snowfall was this one had little wind while last snow had 42 mph gust, also temperature was colder below 12° throughout snow.

Also something I did different with the heated rain gauge was pre-treat with Dupont Snow and Ice repellent helping reduce evaporation allowing snow melt to bead and roll into tipper faster.  Error on heated tipping bucket was 10% vs 32% without treatment.
