The Ultimate Weather Animation!
« on: May 16, 2011, 01:22:25 PM »
I took my son to the Pacific Science Center in Seattle yesterday.  They have a two-meter sphere suspended from the ceiling onto which they display various animations using four very fancy projectors that correct for vignetting and geometric distortion for a seamless globe.  They had animations for satellite weather, ice-cap progression/recession, ocean temperature and currents, recent earthquake and tsunami activity, lunar surface, etc.  Words cannot properly describe it, so here are a few clickable thumbnails with links to larger photos.

Facit solem suum oriri super bonos et malos et pluit super iustos et iniustos.

Springtime in Seattle...  March comes in like a lion and out like a wet lion.

Very cool.  8-)

It looks like we are getting closer to a "Star Wars" world everyday!

They have the exact same thing at the Denver Museum, very cool. We saw it right after the Tsunami that hit Japan and it showed that storm.
