I  was able to get to my CWOP data just now:
http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/wxpage.cgi?call=CW4114
Is it the normal data page or some other area of CWOP?

Not getting any response from gladstonefamily either. I've noticed on occasion server is slow. You'll have to check your QC data later.

Normal. Just goggle CW4114, and you'll get all kind of stuff.
BTW, my CWOP is reporting fine.

OK, thanks for the clarification. The QC page is not responding as it is for others.

The gladstone server is not down even though "isitdownrightnow" reports that it is down. However, it is taking a long time to render the pages. I tried several different links on it and each time it took over a minute to finish loading. Here is my link for QC checking:
Don - W3DRM - Emmett, Idaho --- Blitzortung ID: 808 --- FlightRadar24 ID: F-KBOI7
Davis Wireless VP2, WD 10.37s150,
StartWatch, VirtualVP, VPLive, Win10 Pro
--- Logitech HD Pro C920 webcam (off-line)
--- RIPE Atlas Probe - 32849

From Phillip Gladstone

I just restarted the web server -- something got wedged. I suspect that
some users are hammering the server -- the top 5 IP addresses are doing
the vast majority of the requests. One of these, I blocked probably a
year ago and they are *still* doing tens of thousands of requests per day.

I may just figure out how to tarpit the high volume people and that
should reduce the load dramatically. By high volume, I mean people who
want more than 10k requests per day. In particular, there is almost
certainly a better way to do what they want.

just block all the suspicious IPs in the .htaccess of your root folder

Thanks Phillip,
I've tried blocking the Chinese bots but they keep coming back. For some reason my server with their .htaccess tool won't block large blocks of ip addresses or I just can't figure out how to use it. It gives the option but never saves.  It will do single addresses all day long however.
I suspect something like that is happening with the Gladstone site.

There is one problem though. If you restrict access for certain IPs, they still can make a call to your server, they try to access it and the server rejects it, but the problem is that they dont see the content, but your server might still be overloaded because it still has to deal with these IPs - in other words, it has to check the IP and then see if it is blocked, but that still means it loads the server, just does not allow access. This is a problem of DDoS in general and it is basically impossible to solve.

I get the impression, from dealing with my provider, that everything is "impossible to solve." Or, to put it another way, they always suggest that it is my problem but "praise be to god" the problem miraculously goes away once I have done nothing and waited a bit (for them to fix their problem).

Holy Moly crap.   I do not think there is anyone on this forum able to write the software and set up the network that Phillip Gladstone and Steve Demise did in setting up and implementing the CWOP/Findu system.      Lots of totally unknowledgeable things being said here.

Err.. did you intend this for a different thread? I can't see anything at all negative here, with regard to CWOP, unless you consider people pointing out that they can't access it as being negative.
