New user - unknown constant noise on one channel
« on: March 30, 2018, 09:20:05 AM »
Hello,

I have been running system for few days, and trying to set it up.

I would like to ask, if anyone recognize the noise (pic attached) on my channel C, and could suggest how to eliminate it, please.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

:-k more information, please.... that could be any number of things.... first impression is it is from a computer or other device
What is your station number?
Where are you?
Assume is  Blue System... Or is it RED and you['re showing E channel C?  :D
What do the other channels look like?
What kind of 5 Volt power supply?
Where is the controller located?
What type of antennas?
Where are the Antennas an Pre Amps Located?
What are your settings?
ETC...ETC...

Hi,

I apollogize for the lack of info, here it is:

Station 1763, not named yet
Loc.: Bytca, Slovakia
Blue system
Ants are original ferrite 20cm (I think), mounted on the post above the roof (with preamps, in a plastic housing, see pic), CU is in a room just below the roof (steel roof, and ceiling), CAT5 cable, at least 3 meters away from any electr. device (inc. PCs)
I used enclosed USB type adaptor.

Now I am on Manual, due to the channel C and an occasional heavy noise from the halogen lamp in a room below.

Some screens of latest signals and settings attached.

Try the "sampling" mode on the signal page for Vin and Vref. See if the supply is noisy and has a lot of ripple.

I recently tracked down a noise heard on my Ham radio using the time-honored  "turn off all the breakers" method. You will need to keep the computer and BlitzO station running of course, but you can eliminate sources inside your own place. I found that the sampling frequency of the DAC in the audio section of a HDMI converter was the culprit.

If it is still present after shutting every breaker off, it could be the computer (or supply for the BO station) or a neighbor.

Another suggestion is to get an iron pipe section long enough to completely cover the ferrite rod. I placed a cap on mine.

If the noise disappears with the pipe section covering the antenna, leaving a noise floor, then the noise is coupling in via the antenna. If it is still present, it is getting in "back way" through the BO station wiring and/or power. Obviously, this is just for testing and the pipe would need to be removed to place the system back in service.
