I've been very pleased with my Acurite 5-in-1 since upgrading to the new dual solar setup and the new color display around last Christmas. I'm a 27-year veteran NWS meteorologist so I take my data seriously. I noticed recently that the VIS reader now has a "required" upgrade. I have a Windows 8 machine that is about 4 years old and when I've tried to upgrade VIS reader in the past, it tells me that it can't because I don't have the appropriate hardware. The 3.5.9.2 VIS reader works fine and I continue to run it. Has anyone else encountered this issue and is there other software that could potentially be used instead of VIS reader? How hard is WeeWx to set up on a Windows machine, or will it even run there? I run Acurite Connect to feed the Wunderground site, but I have a fairly extensive website with a high following (moreheadcityweather.com), so I want to keep the ajax stuff going if possible.
Thanks,
Chris Collins
