I downloaded and installed a trial version of WD 10.37G and also carterlake's prebuilt template. The problem is that the help file that comes with the template seems to be for an older version of WD. I put the appropriate files in my public_html location and the wxlocal files in the WD webfiles folder as instructed. My problem comes under step #2 internet files setting. The control panel is different in this latest version than in the help file. Specifically, I need to point the wxlocal.html = index.html on my website. There is no area on this panel on the far right like there is in the help file to do the association.
There is an index.html in the public_html directory which is the stock index.html for the account when it was set up which is as follows:
<html>
<head>
<title>
bigbaywx.com
</title>
<style>
* { font-family: verdana; font-size: 10pt; COLOR: gray; }
b { font-weight: bold; }
table { height: 50%; border: 1px solid gray;}
td { text-align: center; padding: 25;}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<center>
<br><br><br><br>
<table>
<tr><td>Welcome to the home of <b>bigbaywx.com</b></td></tr>
<tr><td>To change this page, upload your website into the public_html directory</td></tr>
<tr><td><img src="logo.jpg"></td></tr>
<tr><td style="font-size: 8pt">Date Created: Thu Nov 29 20:57:59 2007</td></tr>
</table>
<br><br>
</center>
</body>
</html>
Should I delete this index.html and just assume that the .css files from the template will take care of setting the rest of it up?? It just seems that there needs to be an association in the WD ftp area to associate the wxlocal.html with the index.html on the website. I'm trying to follow the helpfile the best I can but it makes it a little difficult with the changes in the versions.
FWIW the hosting company I went with is host.pc using the basic plan. The use the directAdmin control panel. Any direction or insight would be appreciated. Until the DNS servers catch up the stock index is here.
