problems with weather link for mac *solved*
« on: June 04, 2015, 09:46:19 AM »
The app instals ok, the drivers where then installed as per the instructions and the correct version of java.
I then opened the app in 32-bit mode as per the instructions.

The trouble seems to be that my macbook pro isn't seeing the usb input from the station at all as when I try to configure the communication settings it only gives me the options of "bluetooth incoming port" or " bluetooth modem" there is no sign of com ports at all.

Any ideas?? or does anyone know of a fix that doesn't involve going back to windows.

Laptop & operating system are:-

mackbook pro retina 2.2 ghz quad core
OSX yosemite 10.10.3

Solution:
The problems indeed the CP210x UART driver, not so much the driver but the installation of the driver.
After double clicking to extract you must make sure you mount the installer and then click the mounted installer and install from the window that pops up, if you try to double click the installer file in downloads it fails.

When you install weather link make sure to download the java version required, then when you run setup choose silicon labs usb art from the drop down menu.

This worked fine for me and the station is now up and running
