Make sure you have quit WeatherLink when you try to connect with WD.  Only one can use that port at a time.  Otherwise, hopefully someone else will have an idea.

"Any ideas?"

VirtualVP would have been the answer in the Good old days, but now you probably need to give more information about your various software packages. (I'm running WeatherLink 5.8.1 with VirtualVP 1.2.5.74 , Virtual Weather Station V14.00 p45 etc. on a WindowsXP machine.)

FWIW

You might need to shutdown WL and reboot before running WD. I have had WL not release the comport properly. You can only have 1 program communicating with the serial port at a time. If you want to run more than one weather program then you need Virtual Vantage Pro. Currently I am running WD, WL, VWS, Aprs, and Cumulus on a Windows 7 box (Dell Optiplex 960) and the computer hardly runs hard at all.

Are you sure it's a serial logger?  Where are those lights?

I believe he's referring to the data quality and received lights in WD.

Oh.  So, did you understand that you can only run ONE weather software program at a time?

Have you looked at this program? "http://www.softwx.com/weather/virtualvp.html"

I used it a while ago when I had an old computer in the basement and I had only the one console (I have fixed that adding 3 Envoys), but I was able to share one com port between Weatherlink and Weather Display.

It might be a solution for you and then again perhaps not. Something go consider.

Perhaps visiting the official WD forum would help - but if you get help, please come back here and post the result for future reference.
