I have Oregon WMR968 mounted in the norwegian mountains almost 1100m above the sea level. Between the seasons it's hard to get in there and I need a reliable system through out but with the Oregon WMR968, I don't. The sensors stops working (or sending, I don't know) and I have deactivate them in Ambient VWS software becuase if the VWS don't get feedback from one of the sensors through the WMR968 console it stops transfering my images to the FTP server.

So, have anyone else had problems with the wireless communication from the sensors to the WMR968 station?
It used to help with replacing the batteries in the sensors, but now they don't communicate at all.

I'm considering a new weather station. If so, the new weather station needs the following features:
x Inside console to view all parameters
x Compatible with Virtual Weather Station v14
x WIRED connection between the sensors and the weather station, cables needs to be LONG (min. 15m/50ft.)
x WIRED power supply
x Wind speed and direction
x Wind chill
x Temperature
x Barometer
x Humidity
x Must operate by itself 24h/365days
x If power loss it must of course reboot and work again automatically
x Metric units

Price is not an issue at all as long as it doesn't exceed approx. 2,000USD.
Rain is not important, but I'll mount it if it's included.

If there is a system to measure snow depth I'll strech the budget big time :)

I have drop outs of data a few times a week. It used to frustrate the heck out of me. I don't have my station on the internet so it is not as much of a problem to me.  Still I would get pretty angry at times :-x .  Usually it is the temp/hum sensor. The drop out usually lasts about 25 minutes and it comes back on it's own.  When I do the forced scan it will bring it back around 40% of the time the rest nothing works.
I think mine is caused by interference because it seems to happen on weekdays around 1:00pm.  The only reason I ever look at the display screen is to make sure I don't have a drop out. Thanfully I dont have the location problem that you do. No doubt everyone is right about the Davis.  That is what I am saving up for.

How do you do the forced scan? I usually reboot it with cutting the AC power and removing the batteries. This worked fine before, but now it seems there is no hope for anything so I've given up. I'm sick and tired of climbing up on the roof to change batteries and realizing some days later that it's out of function again. Even the solar panels do have a lot of sun and is not shielded by anything so all the sun there is will hit the panels.

No, I think I'll go for a wired Davis VP2.

Press and hold the CHANNEL button on the screen until you hear a second beep.

I agree go with a davis! For online use you will need a data logger. Also check out Ambients low price quotes, there usually the cheapest on the net and have awesome support.
