ISS mounted with southern exposure.

The only concern I would have with this mounting arrangement is that the wood you've mounted to doesn't skew the temperature readings when direct sunlight hits it, given that it looks like you're using a passively aspirated system.

Thank you for the input, Okie.  I never considered that.  Maybe for a few days in the summer, but I don't think that will be much of a factor up here in Alaska.  But you never know.

That wood will collect heat especially with the southern exposure. I thought you had long summers up in Alaska?

I would also be concerned with rainfall splatter from the fence railing. That could impact rainfall accuracy. I'd extend the ISS mounting so it is further away from the fence.

I have a spare pole from the antenna, I will have to rig something up to attach it to that post.  We do have long summers, but the sun doesn't get blazing hot.  I don't think it would heat up that post much, but I want to minimize any possible distortion.  I considered rain interference, but not "splash".  You guys are good:)

Let me ask you this.  I cracked a rivet on the roof tripod, when tightening the bolts to secure the pole.  I couldn't line the holes up after that, so had to drill a hole and bolt it.  The pole is about 3/4 of a bubble out of true, so not completely straight.  Will this have an effect on the anemometer.  There is a picture of it, also.  Thanks.

Main effect will be the wind direction if not fairly level. On days with low wind speed the vane may not respond to actual direction. I don't see the wind speed being affected that much because it comes from different angles anyway.
If direction is important on low speed days consider dropping the pole all the way down and supporting on the roof itself and tighten the two sides that work and then drill and pin the broken side.
