The bridge stopped working
« on: September 29, 2016, 08:36:08 PM »
My bridge has been working just fine since installing it a couple of months ago.  Today it just stopped working.  I went to the Acurite site and my device is no longer listed.  I've attempted a number of times to restart it.  Pulled the power and finally pressed the register button.  Nothing!  Anyone have any suggestions?

And Acu-link is no more.  So HTF am I to get my data off the old site?  And I get this on aculink:

HTTP Error 503 - Service unavailable
This server is temporarily unavailable.

We are working to resolve the issue. Please try back soon.

And clearly Acurite/Chaney do not know how ot use a calendar.  SO much for my 48 hours...

"Migrating to My AcuRite

Migration from My Backyard Weather to My AcuRite is now disabled. Over the next 48 hours your hub will be upgraded to work with My AcuRite. Once upgraded you will be able to create a new account on My AcuRite and register your device."

What a cluster!  They should have hired an IT who actually knows  migration process.  And read dates and times.

I wondered if this outage was caused by Acurite's new format since they've been talking about it forever with a September launch.  Jeez, I guess I don't have any other option but to wait it out and hope the darn thing works.  Thanks for your reply, Bushman

I received a notice from wunderground that my acurite weather station stopped reporting. My lights are out and nothing. Any advice? I think I was upgraded to a brick.

Fellow brickees - was your bridge wireless?  I am wondering if Acurite pushed the brickness, er I mean update, and a Wifi connection broke causing the concrete state?

https://www.acurite.com/support/my-acurite-migration-troubleshooting  Form to exchange your brick.

Ditto!  Maybe we are to something here?  Funny thing is that I routinely upgrade my Dlink cameras wirelessly.  Hmmmm....

I  have directly connected the Acu-link bridge to the router and unplugged and reconnected. NADA not even a network light.

My bridge is wireless.  I tried all the restart options again this morning and nothing but the unblinking blue light.   Weather underground notified me too that they weren't receiving my data.  Would have been nice of Acurite to notify their customers.  Just another brick in the wall.

By "unblinking" I assume you mean it has stopped.

Would have been nice if Acurite actually stuck to their migration schedule.  Now I have no historical data, no account, no WU and no working bridge.  Imagine doing a financial system cutover a day or two early!

Mine too.  I noticed it failed around 05:20 GMT 2016.09.30
I tried to power cycle it, and watched the logs of my DHCP server.  The device isn't even requesting an IP address, so I think they hosed it with their "upgrade".
My brother has the same setup, and his died at the same time as well.

I found this, which I'm sure many of you have seen:

https://www.acurite.com/support/my-acurite-migration-troubleshooting

SO, I requested a new bridge I guess.

Pretty poor transition processes.

Well, this is going to cost them a lot!

https://support.acurite.com/acurite?topic_list%5Bsettings%5D%5Btype%5D=problem

But I saw this post, which doesn't make much sense:
https://support.acurite.com/acurite/topics/migration-problem-gsmlr53lfosfr

I don't see how the upgrade can happen, now that the devices are bricked.

Jeeez!  I hope they stand behind their product.  I just bought my new station and bridge a couple of months ago I would hate to have to rain hell down on them.

That's exactly the same situation I'm in... two solid blue lights and it's not even asking for DHCP address from the router. I think the firmware upgrade lobotomized it. At this point, I'm seriously considering upgrading to a different brand.

Did you press and hold the register button? Maybe reboot the hub? Some said they tinkered with it and got it going like this.

For mine, I've power cycled it, let it sit unplugged for an hour, changed ethernet cables, changed ethernet ports on the router, held the register button down for a full 60 seconds, and there's been no change. When I check the router logs, there's not any DHCP IP requests from the MAC address of the bridge, so it apparently has no way to communicate with the AcuLink servers.
