They "discontinued" it long ago. But it's been working right up to the 19th.

Checked last night, it's back up. Getting warnings, forecast and Mesonet AKA Weather Exchange.  Still not getting rainfall historical, and the IR map is not the latest along with Rapid Fire not working  Ref: http://www.castletonweather.net/ but hey, it's a start. Keep resolving the issues WU.

I have been down since about 4am, but I can't blame WU.  I thought it was, but I'm not reporting to PWS, AWEAKAS or even Rainwise.  Time to re-boot my IP-100.

your guess is as good as anyone . It would be more benifical asking them if you could get an answer then asking here as none of us are employed  buy WU.

WU sure has been degrading lately. All sorts of glitches appear and disappear at random.
I suspect that their backend software development and support is getting transfered from whatever formerly cheapest IN/PI groups were doing it, to some even cheaper, but far less competent.

Yesterday morning I tried numerous times to post a "Status" line on my WU PWS page to indicate some extreme fog, but it never seemed to take (using 2 different browsers). Now I can't get rid of it, or not .

BTW, I've only seen fog that dense a few times, even on the water. I think the NOAA WFO's lower limit the visibility field to 0.15 mile, about 264 yards.
This fog vis was <0.01 mile, less than 20 yards/60' and momentarily less; a super dense whiteout that lasted from ~0530-0930h. Expecting it again tonight, nearby WFO's already at 0.75mi vis and 0.5-.75mi here.

 Never noticed the missing 'star', urk, I'm devastated.. :-(
I suspect that it may be because WU seemed to show me missing 8-9 hours of reporting a few days ago.
However, never got any warning emails from them (as had been normal), nor did WUHU or HeavyWeather show anything at all in their data/log. That's why I remarked that WU has some random, odd, 'issues', like the rest of y'all.
I got rid of the old "Status" line in/from the Opera browser, tried every which way in the other and it's still there .
WU also gets hosed because of auto-"location", I use a proxy that puts me at various places w/w, seems to bother the hell outta WU.  #-o

I think whenever WU crashes ...it's because they are always getting hacked.  This morning my Favorites were missing and replaced by 40 or so Russian cities.  This is constantly happening.  It is a royal pain because you spend 15 minutes deleting the cities one by one in the Favorites area.  Just so you can put back your own favorites.
Thought I'd better join the community since I am getting a PWS tomorrow. The closest ones to my location have been very iffy in providing data to Weather Underground.  I need a WU station to provide my local weather conditions for my PVOutput.org solar generation monitoring.

So probably not much point in doing it as it will happen in 2 weeks (days?) again... It is unbelievable how unreliable that site is, so many services have problems... they should really either solve the problems once and for all, or just shut down those they are unable to maintain

I wish there was an alternative weather station reporting service I could use.  But the WU API is the only one available for PVOutput.org. :???:

 ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

This truly is unbelievable. I think they should take a radical solution to all their problems.

Make a list of all services they offer. Write down the uptime/100% working time for each, and then discontinue all that do not have at least 98-99% reliability, which still is very low if you consider this is in longterm.

They obviously cannot handle all the things they do now. It is better to do less things but reliably than doing hundred things, none of which really works. They are only pissing of people more and more
