Small PC for Boltek PCI card
« on: May 22, 2016, 12:33:50 PM »
Ok long story short.  I just purchased a Shuttle PC and noticed that the motherboard does not have a full PCI slot.  I did buy a PCIe to PCI converter card and it created nothing but noise.

So here is my question.

Does anyone run there weather station on a mini pc that has a full pci card slot on it.

I have a full tower now that runs VWS, Nexstorm, APRS etc but i want to shrink the size of my hardware.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Anything new that still has a PCI is rare. Mine runs on an Atom ITX, but those bits may no longer available (I know the MB isn't and believe the case isn't either) Pretty much everything I've looked at since doesn't have a PCI slot at all. For me, the case was the biggest issue.

I was unsuccessful to getting a cheap generic pcie to pci conversion card to work, but I WAS SUCCESSFUL in getting a

StarTech.com PCI Express to PCI Adapter Card (PEX1PCI1) to work without any noise.

I now have my full weather station working on a Shuttle PC.
