HP3501 1.5.6 Firmware Fail - Ecowitt
« on: July 15, 2019, 11:13:37 AM »
I followed the update procedures exactly (http://www.ecowitt.com/weather_station/97.html) and it got stuck at the updating firmware screen after showing 100%. I left it that way overnight to be sure it wasn't just a slow upgrade. I also unplugged the unit with and without the SD card to no avail. The screen briefly lights up and then cuts off again. I tried connecting directly to my computer via USB and EasyWeather did not detect it. I also realized that the firmware file on the SD card does get deleted after showing the updating firmware message. If I copy the update back to the SD card and reinsert in unit and power cycle, the update procedure starts again. Unfortunately, this is as far as I've gotten. I've had no other issues updating to the latest WiFi firmware in the past or for anything else,  so this is frustrating. I'm really enjoying having the sensors separate too. I can't seem to find an old firmware link either so I could try to go back to what works. Any ideas?

As an update, the Ecowitt team was very helpful and responsive. The solution ended up being to move all the files off the sd card and reflash. The updates don't seem to like other files on the sd card.  It did lose my history on the console, but I still have that backed up somewhere else and could possible merge the file if I needed to. Thanks for the help![tup] [tup]
