Why business's should be alarmed about severe weather
« on: October 17, 2009, 09:06:31 AM »
I chase storms but I also work in a manufacturing plant, a plant with
over 600 congragated in one building. Problems in this area is I also
live and work in tornado alley not unlike alot of people! I am disturbed
by what I have always seen has a lack luster approach by companies
when it comes to severe weather, almost a second thought that they
disregard!

Companies for a while now have been on the safe work place binge
since lawsuits and jail time have required a rethinking of old policies!
When you started to see CEO's being convicted of manslaughter due to
people being killed because of unsafe work conditions, safety became a
frontline problem! But if you were to ever question most companies
that do buisiness in tornado alley what their safety measures would be
in case of severe weather, most don't even know or they have a plan
and noone else knows what it is! leaving people wondering what if!

What is there 10 million unemployed workers I don't really think company's care about dead or injured employees from act of god. Less your one of the top dog banker then they care and you get a big bonus cause they are the only people that can figure out how to screw tax payer out of there money.

The act of God rule of law doesn't afford any company the right to ignore dangerous
conditions, however with all the jobs going to China it probably won't matter! In 10 years
there probably won't be any American industry in this country, someone told me
NAFTA stand for NO AMERICAN FACTORIES TAKING APPLICATIONS!

You know, speaking of nasty weather, I'm getting slammed (or was) with hail and wind, and heavy rain. It's moved through (narrow squall line) but the skies still look threatening. I agree tiger on this, it probably won't matter ten years from now.

It's been steady drizzle for the last oh, three hours. But I was walking home when the squall started coming in. When I left school it was well off to the west. I get about halfway home, and the skies turn a scary dark, with this interesting shelf cloud protruding from it. As soon as I walk in the door, boom. It gets cold, windy and it starts to hail and pour rain. Sad thing is, I only got about .27 of an inch from it. Albuquerque saw some heavier rain though. I wish it would snow though. It'd be a nice change.  \:D/
