Hard Water

From free flowing to ice over 48 hours. Yep freeze is under way. Need snow to smooth it out now.

Trough came thru and it warmed  back up into the teens at night. They are saying snow questably. No concenus  between the  computer models.
Next week we are back  into the negs and  teens for  high durning day. Sun angle  getting so low there  not much heat  from it.

I am probably one of the few people that does not mind cold weather all year. I work much better out in cold weather than I do in hot weather. We've been near record highs all week thus far. That should finally change by the end of the week.  8-)

How long does it take to get solid or does it ever?

It will get solid enough to drive on. If temp had stayed around zero in couple more days you could walk on it. Dangerous part is current cutting it from undernneath.Later in season overflow caverns can get the unwary. By next spring the ice on the Salcha will be e3 to 4 feet thick depending on the temps at mid winter.
