Title: 2 Foscams
Post by: KeaWeather on October 10, 2018, 07:50:03 AM
Hi,

I installed 2 Foscam camera, 1 facing east and the other facing west. No regrets whatsoever. I am having it ftp it every 2-3 minutes.
See the image in the following link

Nice. I would correct the camera rotation so that the horizon is more level. For a weather cam I would also change the angle just a bit to get more trees and ground. If it is raining then you can see wet things and puddles. And when there is wind you can see trees or things blowing

I would love to. But there isn't anything scenic around my area. The Foscam is installed in the terrace

I would still move it down the angle because it is too much sky. Even if it gets more building you don't need the image to be 95% sky.

Also check your website code or server software make sure everything is up to date and check it for viruses. It is probably related to the ads you are running, (just a guess). While visiting your website I got redirected to a malicious website and my router smart firewall caught it and blocked the following redirection.

How are you handling the name of the pictures.  With my Foscams  I can ftp to my site with no problems, other than the name of the files that are not static, that is they are picture1,picture2 etc .

Are you using a service that takes your images or is it your software?   I used to be able to load a single image every few minutes, then Foscam changed their firmware on their cameras. From that I had to pay a service to pick up my images and  then I had to put in an image link to put the pictures. Now,  I have a bloom sky and have to put up with that nonsense for the camera (I use my Davis for everything else)

Why not set up a visitor account then provide a link to the camera - just make the page update every 1 minute or so.

Foscam URL eg;

http://your-ip:88/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=visitor&pwd=visitor1234&

You can point a domain name to your IP address to provide a proper URL as well.

Just forget it.  I see you are using https://webcam.io/ (https://webcam.io/). to poll your cameras.   they are a good group. costs but if people are using the video, they yes. it is worth it.

You'll need to port forward 88, or whatever port you choose.
