What are the batteries in a 2902A used for?
« on: December 04, 2019, 06:01:45 PM »
My old Ambient Weather 2080A finally bit the dust.  I am looking to replace it with a 2902A. We have a lot of power outages where I live.  Do the batteries in the 2902A console allow the console to continue to receive and display data from the sensors, or do they just maintain the console settings until the power comes back on?

Thanks,
Kevin

During a power outage you'll be able to see all of the sensors data, but the console won't upload data through your router to the internet (also your router won't work, unless it has a ups).

If you lose AC power the display goes dark. You press a button and it wakes up for a few seconds then goes dark again. It does keep receiving data but it will not be connected to WiFi even if WiFi has UPS. It doesn't accumulate data for later upload. It just keeps internal records of high lows and current. Batteries are mostly for settings and historic storage as removing batteries resets things including calibrations.
