7u9 Java Update breaks Davis Ticker
« on: November 07, 2012, 01:58:52 PM »
Antone else notice that the 7u9 Java update pooches the Davis ticker tape.  I am moving away from that  thing, but it is interesting nonetheless.

It would be great to discontinue using the Java ticker control .. too many exploits in Java have left security professionals with the recommendation to discontinue using Java in the browser unless it is absolutely needed.  A Java ticker can be easily replaced with a JavaScript AJAX replacement, speed up your page load (so no Java engine needed, and let you display the scroll with a minimum of programming effort.  :)
