Compatible with Cumulus?
« on: December 29, 2015, 05:53:02 PM »
Since the Ambient stations use Easy Weather, and since the WS1001 specifically, uses a slightly modified version of EasyWeather software, and since Cumulus works with EasyWeather (.dat) equipped stations, is the WS1001 compatible with Cumulus?  Or can it fairly easily be made to be compatible?

I think the short answer is no.  There was a post from the Cumulus author stating not compat for 1001 since not format not 100%.
I'll try another google search for it.

I also think the short answer is no, and wasn't able to find anything in Cumulus WIKI.  However, as Cumulus can work with an easyweather.dat file and if you can create such a file from the WS1001 data then Cumulus can likely use that.  http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/EasyWeather_Format#Usage_of_easyweather.dat_fields_for_Cumulus_input_of_latest_record: and go to the "Usage of easyweather.dat fields for Cumulus input of latest record:" section.

Thanks for that link.  I just saved it for future reference.  I'm hoping that since the WS-1001 and its clones, along with EasyWeather are relatively new to the picnic that greater compatibility with more robust software will occur as the product matures.  Wishful thinking?  It will be interesting to watch.

Hi!

According to http://sandaysoft.com/ and http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Supported_Devices weather station WS100x is not compatible with Cumulus

Correct, BUT

Usage of easyweather.dat fields for Cumulus input of latest record:

People with non Fine Offset stations may wish to create data in this format for input to Cumulus running continuously, only the last record on the file is ever read, checking its time-stamp differs from the last one read. See the forum (http://sandaysoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4344) for more details.

Hello,

I just upgraded my WS-1001 Wifi display to 2.2.5.  I was able to connect it to my WIN7 PC's Usb port and can see the directory structure now.

There is a 2015.dat file in the database directory.  The old version saved the data as 2015.csv.

When I try to get Cumulus to use that file it doesn't work for me.   It seems some tweaking will need to be done but it looks like all the components are there now there if you can figure it out.

Regards, Tom

Here is a program Wx5020 (Bill) wrote to talk to the console of the WS-1001 and output an easyweatherplus.dat file that Cumulus can use as input.
