Topic: Need help with web page

I have a new weather station with vantage pro 2 and weather link-about one month old.


This is my web page.

I just installed it and want to use it with my class and other classrooms.

Problems

1. How do I change- Current weather at.   I have tried  to but each time there is an update, it disappears.

2. Can I move around the meters?

3. Can I add the forcast, moon, sun etc. from the station?

4. The other meters that are not there-will they appear?



I have some computer experience.  With good instructions-I am usually pretty successful

Problems

You need to edit the .htx file in one of the folders in the WeatherLink folder on your computer, not the .htm file on your website. In that .htx file, you will see some HTML tags that look like this:

<!--lowYearlyBarometer-->

WeatherLink replaces these tags  with the appropriate weather values and then uploads the entire file to your website as a .htm file. You've probably been editing the .htm file on the server, which gets overwritten whenever WeatherLink uploads the file again.

Inside the same folder as your .htx file is a file called:

Template Descriptions.rtf

Read it, as it has a description of what happens and how to make it all work.

That can be opened with Word or WordPad, and contains an explanation of how it

2. Can I move around the meters?

Sure, but it has to be done in the .htx file. See above.

3. Can I add the forcast, moon, sun etc. from the station?

Sure, but it has to be done in the .htx file. See above.

4. The other meters that are not there-will they appear?

Not unless you set WeatherLink to upload them to your server, and then embed links to them in the .htx file.

I have some computer experience.  With good instructions-I am usually pretty successful

Print out the .htx file for the page you are updating, compare it to your page in a web browser, and refer to the lists of WeatherLink HTML tags and images as needed. That's how most of us started out, by working on a working web page and seeing how it works.

One important tip from the School of Hard Knocks... Before you start working on your page, save a copy of it somewhere safe. Then, when you booger up the on-line one too bad (and you will ), you can copy the backup over and start again.

If you use Word or Wordpad to edit, make sure you save it as a text file with the HTX extension...

I found which htx file works.
I made a copy of the 'base' file and was able to change up the banner scroll.
   

I have to mess around with the gauges a little more, but it looks better than before.
I just ran out of time.

I was able to move and delete some of the gauges.

I cannot get a barometer history gauge to come up.

I thought I had the software set up to display the history too  (profile set up)

May have found a potential problem.

I was reading my VPP manual.  It said "Make sure the power is off before adding the Data Logger or it may lock up etc. "

Oops.

So-

If I take out all power supplies- Will I lose the data?

Could that be the problem?

I have also redesigned my site-(another post)

I am also going to reinstall the software. etc.
