Vantage View Super Cap
« on: January 14, 2019, 07:07:42 PM »
My View will be 9 years old this summer.  I changed the battery back in June 2018.  This morning I have the low power message.

There has been a 2-3 days of cloudy weather now. (sun due back tomorrow).

I'm wondering if this sounds like the SuperCap going out?

How much does Davis charge to repair?

Thanks

I had the same issue after only 4 years and you need to replace the whole unit inside. Davis charged me $96 plus I needed to send my old board back as a core.

First thing you would do is replace the battery and observe what happens. Check the voltage of the new battery and check the voltage of the old battery, the June 2018 battery could also have been faulty?

No, the board in the Vue unit itself.

Replaced the old battery.  It was reading 2.86 volts

New battery is at 3.24 volts

Old battery was done/dead, new battery is a good one, now time to wait and watch and hope for some proper sun
