What is a good "weather 101" web site?
« on: October 22, 2016, 05:47:13 AM »
Hi,

Hope this is the right place for this question:

Can someone please advise me on a good "weather 101" web site?

I'm just starting out in this field and I want to base my knowledge on more than life experiences and hearsay.

Yes, I can use Google but I don't have the requisite knowledge to pick a good site from a bad one.

Cheers,
Kev

I have been wondering the same thing. Your question prompted me to go on the hunt. Here are a few I ran across. The first is geared toward High School aged children but I found it useful. The second looks promising but will need more research.

Hopefully, some of the more experienced users will share some links.

I took this as a class a few years ago. http://www.ametsoc.org/amsedu/dstreme/
I do not know if it is offered to non-educators. But you can follow along with the lessons as they are given, even if you are not enrolled.

this may help too   http://ww2010.atmos.uiuc.edu/(Gh)/home.rxml

Good books here https://www.ametsoc.org/ams/index.cfm/education-careers/education-program/k-12-teachers/education-materials/

I set up a learning page on my site-I use it with my 8th graders. http://weather.rms.rdale.org/learning.php
