Somewhat rare -- SF Bay lightning
« on: November 09, 2015, 11:44:22 AM »
We don't usually have the big temperature differences leading to good convective uplift, but this storm is coming off the Pacific with a good deal of lightning offshore and coming our way.

The strikes marked with "B" are from Blitzortung, the unmarked strikes are from ISPLN lightning via AllisonHouse.

I've been watching the lightning today too but more importantly I'm hoping we get lots of that white stuff here in the SIERRA from this storm. I'm seeing forecasts of over 12" of snow at the higher elevations (>7000') and 2-6" here in Minden at the valley floor level (4800'). Tomorrow morning should bring some beautiful views of the mountains, assuming we will even be able to see them.
