VP2 Console LCD
« on: August 15, 2014, 07:59:08 AM »
Hi

Does anyone know if the original Vantage Pro LCD will work in a VP2 console?
My VP2 (cabled) LCD has taken a ding and the wind rose is unreadable and I was wondering if I could find a replacement display...

Cheers!

Scaled Instruments has a brand-new replacement display available. You might be able to find an original Pro console cheaper, but is will be old and used. I don't know about compatibility, although they look similar in photos.

Thanks.

Im in the UK, so after taxes and postage etc, the cost of a new LCD is close to the cost of a 2nd hand VP2 console on eBlag

Its still workable for now though, just keep my eyes open for something...

Anyone have an actual source for an LCD for VP2 Console? Any Scaled links are dead.

Got a used one and the LCD got dinged up in shipping.

You need to be careful with replacement VP2 LCD screens - the specification has changed, certainly over recent years (and maybe before then) to the extent that some displays seem simply not to be compatible with some Envoy boards (ie the main data-handling board inside a VP2 console). Even we are struggling to get good information out of Davis as to exactly which display is compatible with which Envoy board - we've had more than one or two failures of attempted console repairs because of an incompatible display. You may well be lucky, but don't be too surprised if it doesn't work.

Sorry, but I don't usually have time to help with individual issues by email unless you are a Prodata customer. Please post your issue in the relevant forum section here & I will comment there if I have anything useful to add.

10-4 Thanks.

I may not be too hasty to pursue it. Display works, just has a couple nasty black spots from impact.
