Davis Remote Anemometer installed
« on: May 26, 2012, 02:36:59 PM »
Well after it's been sitting in the box for far too long I've today with assistance got the remote anemometer mounted.

The roof apex is 8m high, and then there is a 1m chimney with a 50cm pole and finally the arm of the Davis unit - so pretty near the recommended 10m from ground level.

Picture of the unit in place..

To the north

To the South (right of frame)

To the East

finally the West view.

So hopefully a reasonably good position, and certainly wind readings are much closer to the data from the local RAF airforce weather station than they were from the Vantage Vue alone :)

Looks good, you should mount some webcam up there as well it's a really nice view.

Does seem like a nice neighborhood for a weathercam.  So this replaces your Vantage Vue anemometer, or is supplemental to it?

The Vantage Vue ISS still does the temperature, rainfall and humidity transmitting to the Vue console at ground level. A secondhand wireless Vantage Pro 2 ISS board with only the anemometer connected is also transmitting to the same console the wind speed and direction.

If I ever have a problem with the Vue ISS I have the option to expand the sensors on the Pro 2 :)
