Digital Atmosphere
« on: February 12, 2013, 04:58:35 PM »
Does anybody use this? I think the university is going to pay for me to get a version of it, and am wondering what everyone thinks of it.

I had wanted to get it a while back but couldn't afford it. Looks like a great product and one of these days I may pull the trigger.

I thought the program looked good as well! I am working on a research project up at the university, and it is supposed to be given to me for it :-)

Just as an update, I got DA today from the University, and it is awesome!!!! I will start posting some pictures soon so everyone can see. I draw frontal boundaries and other surface plots, as well as skew ts. It is a VERY cool program! :-)

Here is my first screen grab. This is a fairly basic map that shows surface data plots, contoured temperatures, and then watches/warnings as well as frontal positions.

The Standard version is $89, while the professional is $199. I haven't really used anything on the professional that I have that wasn't on the standard though. Here is a link to the site below. The guy that runs it, Tim Vasquez, definitely knows his stuff (Written at least 2 books), and is very nice.

I will post more pics as time passes because this forum hasn't really talked much about this program.
The pic below is a skew t from KILN in Wilmington, OH.
