Hi Everyone,
The unit arrived a couple of weeks ago and I've finally managed to find some time to get the unit installed.
This is step 1 of a 2 part plan. :grin:
1) The base station has been mounted (with a Davis Tripod kit) securely into the bricks and the thing won't move a budge.
2) The anemometer will be moved post new year, to a location either on the roof or the barn or the roof. However the barn install is going to be a lot easier. So will probably go with that.
So there ya go! It's up running, installed and configured.
Still waiting for Belfryboy's data logger to arrive. Hopefully will be soon!!!

Looks great.
I assume that the orange "stick-pin" in the third picture is where you are thinking of installing it in step 2.
You might want to consider having a bracket from the building acting as a mid-point support. Kind of acting like a guy wire. This is what I have on mine, with a roof tripod and a bracket tied to the 2nd floor roof trusses. (similar, except your tripod will be on the ground)
Also, you may want to have just the anemometer mounted above the roof, and the ISS mounted low enough to access the rain funnel for cleaning and the SIM panel for battery changes.

Thanks, my friend! :-) Was exciting watching the console yesterday when it actually rained! Seeing 7.8mm for the entire day with a lovely rain rate of 90.00mm/per hour at one stage.
Re: Your idea of a support bracket midway, absolutely Greg. I was thinking the same thing! I've been researching this a bit over the past few weeks and seen lots of pictures/videos of people getting their anemometer high into the sky. ( Something similar to this - However I'd only go 1/2 the height: https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=16117.0 )
The ability to walk the pole up (via the pivot mechanism) and lock it into place - Plus lock it via a middle bracket towards the top of the barn - means that I wouldn't have to use guy ropes.
I'll head to a steel fabricator - show them the design and see what they can come up with ( Unfortunately I simply don't have the technical knowledge to do this myself.
The barn handly points North ( southern hemisphere for me - Australia ) so the Wireless Anemometer transmitter kit can be mounted directly at chest level height.
If possible Greg can you send me a photo of your setup, please? That would be rather helpful!
I thought about putting the tripod on the roof but, maintainability and safety won in the end. I wandered around the garden for ages wondering where to put it plus not get in the way of anyone. Seeing the pavers in that triangle pattern screamed at me to put it there!
My wife's comment though ( chortle / chortle ), that's a bit of an eyesore! But after explaining that her dear hubby was going on the roof, she conceded that I made the 'right' decision. What was even funnier is that when the rain started yesterday she was the first one out of her seat and looking at the davis console! <hahaha>

My website has an "about" page where you can see my anemometers. I have split my system and use the 6332 Anemometer Transmitter on the mast for those. The ISS is ground mounted. You can right click on the images and see a larger version than is apparent on my site. The white propeller type anemometer is a RM Young Wind Monitor Jr. The top box is the Universal Anemometer Interface that translates RM Young to Davis.
In my case, the 5 foot tripod (larger than most from DX Engineering) isn't much below the side mount. I still think that it is worthwhile to minimize stress on the tripod mounts and take some of the lateral loads off of the roof mounts. The mast is a telescoping type that is only extended a short distance, so it effectively double-walled.
