Blue Iris with Hikvision latest firmware
« on: January 06, 2018, 05:38:27 PM »
I just got a new Hikvision and it has [what I believe to be] the latest firmware - v5.5.0 build 170725.
I can view the camera image through my browser ok, that is how I set it up.  I can also see it using the SADPTool.

However, I can not get Blue Iris to recognize it.  I have other Hikvision cameras (8) working just fine in BI, they do have various firmware versions and none as recent as the new camera.

I am stumped as I have tried about everything I know in BI to get it working.  I have sent a ticket into BI support but have not heard back from them.

I'm open to any ideas anyone may have.
Thanks.

Edit - Sorry, it is a bullet DS-2CD2042WD-I 4mm camera

That's odd BI was always easy to connect. My newest camera has  V5.4.1 build 160907. I'll post pic how BI connects and path.

Also make sure RTSP port matches

Thanks for the reply Randy.  Yes I have had great success with BI and my other cameras, just not this one.
My setup/configuration is as you have outlined.
One question - not sure I follow you on making sure the RTSP ports match?  Where is this?

Edit - Okay I found where you set the ports in both BI and the camera setup - they are and were the same.  Still no Joy  ](*,)

Camera under basic settings and ports RTSP default is 554 and then on BI set RTSP the same. You can change port to something else.

Does BI have the model number of camera? If not try the generic RTSP camera.
Make sure password is correct also.

No BI does not have the specific model.  I have tried all permutations under Hikvison cameras and also the generic, strange.

The error message that is displayed in BI is
No Signal
Error: 8000007a(Check Port/User/Password)0

I have checked and triple checked the user name and password - they are correct.
The ports are the same as I have just verified that (with your help - thanks).

I am stumped, that is what led me to the firmware possibly being the issue.
My firmware is just a bit newer than yours, maybe BI has not caught up yet?
Need to get their input/response to my inquiry.

Thanks for looking Randy, if you think of anything else I'm open for sure.

Only thing else I can think of is something wrong on camera side, get latest version of SADP which has indicator if camera is active and verify.

Yep using SADP it does show the camera as active.
I can load the camera in Internet Explorer and see the live view and adjust configurations so I think camera side is okay.
Unless, BI can't talk to it with it's firmware.
I have looked to see if I can "roll back" the firmware but have not found anything yet.

I do recall some discussions here on the board some time ago about NOT updating your firmware, which I have not done on any of the other cameras.  This one being brand new it has a later firmware.
Will wait for BI to respond I guess.

Lighter note:  it is a balmy minus 5.4 here, at least the winds have died for a while.
Thanks again Randy.

Sorry I couldn't help.
Reason for not messing with firmware many cameras being purchased had custom US fixes loaded and if camera was Chinese model it could brick. The China models have a CH somewhere in serial number.

I'll post follow-up if I hear back from BI - or get it resolved some other way.
I always say "I'll try anything once" usually ends up me trying several times.

Re: Blue Iris with Hikvision latest firmware - RESOLVED
« Reply #10 on: January 10, 2018, 07:26:06 PM »
Figured I would close this out with the resolution.
Working with an Administrator on the ipcamtalk forum (great guy) he narrowed the problem down to a password thing.

I set the cameras up with an 18 character password, or so I thought.  Seems the camera truncated the password down to 16 characters.  So even when I logged into the camera through IE and used the 18 it was still truncating down to 16 AND logging in.  ](*,) (yea head banger)

However, when I used the 18 characters in Blue Iris it was too many.  When we used the 16 characters Blue Iris recognized the camera right off.  Anyway, I redid all my camera passwords to 16 characters and then sued the same in BI and it is all fine.

As a side note and plug for IP Cam Talk, great resource for IP cams - sure a lot of you know about it already

Anyway, issue resolved and I'm a happy camper- especially since we broke 40 degrees today.

Thanks to you too Randy for your efforts, appreciate it.

Glad you got it. I almost suggested of making a simple one just for testing. I've had issues like this before where something as simple as symbol character wasn't recognized or like you found just too many.
