Our biggest "storm" this year was about 10cm's so far.  Wednesday morning we were forecast for 5-10cm's today.  Now 20+ this eve, and another 20-25 tomorrow. So we went from 2-4 inches, to 17 in 24 hours.

One model showed 60 inches for Mass.  But consensus is around the 24-30 inch mark now.

Gonna be an interesting few days.

NWS/BOX is forecasting 18" to 24" for all of eastern MA, but who knows? If the wind comes in off the water, it could be less.

Private weather services now shifting the 1 foot line to about Philly. Some models say 30+ in New England. Boston in line for over 2ft.
Thanks,

Chris

Yep, just another day around these parts.  ;)

NWS is predicting 6-12" in the northern part of the state and 12-24" in the southern part. Like I said, just another day.

Wish I was there. I love it!!!! It's like the smell and feel of a summer storm coming when the temp drops 10 degrees in a few minutes.
Thanks.

'Historic'

The Roker Channel at it again?

They named it "Nemo" and dispatched Jim Cantore to Boston with a yardstick.  Somebody should ask Stephanie Abrams if this is a "fish storm" that we should be afraid of?

Seriously though, I was just coming home on I-84 across the Hudson River, and 25% of all the eastbound traffic at the toll booths were convoys of bucket trucks and pole setters.  The mutual aid power crew response is stronger and earlier than it was with Sandy last fall.  I'm not sure if these crews are heading to CT, MA, or LI from the bridge, but they are moving in numbers to make me think the power companies are expecting another disaster.....

Hey Bill714...they used to give tours, may still do them. I did one back in '96?? If I remember right, you have to call to make a reservation. It was very cool to be inside there....       Jack

I walked in the NWS in Goodland KS and asked if I could take a tour. One Met gave me a tour then we talked for almost  3 hours. He showed me the ropes on how they issue warnings and lots of other things. I posted a thread about it a while back with pictures.

The GFS has basically everyone from Philadelphia northward making snowmen over the next 5 days. This map is being a little conservative compared to others and is showing mostly 12-18" for a chunk of New England.

Does the NWS name storms also or is this just TWC doing this?

As far as I know, it is just The Weather Channel. Although, other people use the name. For example, in an email the township sent out to me, they referred to it as Nemo. But it's not an official name.

As to how the storm is going, so far it has been all rain with some sleet. Right now, we don't have anything.

40cm (15.7 inches) so far here.   That's a lot for a metro area with over 5 Million people.
About a third of the snow fell last night.  My train was fine this morn. No one on the roads at 5am. Got stuck on way home, didnt notice a plow berm.  AWD and snow tires doesnt help when the tires arent touching the ground.  #-o  Got pulled off the pile, and finished my commute.
