Ok, I went ahead and made my actual color table, and got it finished. It is in a notepad document. However, I cant figure out how to put it into my radar. Can someone help me?
Thanks!

This is a very good explanation: http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=5656.msg59320#msg59320 (http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=5656.msg59320#msg59320)
I created a folder within GR3 for my color tables. Place your tables there then just browse to that folder and pick a color table. This way I keep all my tables together.
1) Copy
2) Paste in Word or Notepad
3) Save it as Youchoose.pal
4) Go into GR and go to view, set color table, and select what you saved.
-
Is there a program for .pal because I dont have it
-
Ok, I saved it as GR.pal (The whole thing as a title), but it isnt showing on the screen when I go to select the color table.....again though if .pal is a document type, then for some reason I dont have it.

1) Copy
2) Paste in Word or Notepad
3) Save it as Youchoose.pal
4) Go into GR and go to view, set color table, and select what you saved.
Change your table from .txt to .pal
-
In notepad, all I have is *.txt and all files
In wordpress, I have *.doc, *.txt, *.rtf, and a couple more, but not .pal
-
Save as...yourchoose.pal. Or...Move it to your gr3 folder as a text file then rename .pal....put it on your desk top as a text file then rename it to .pal then move it to your gr3 folder. Windows will complain you are changing the file type but go ahead and change it.
-
Again, not trying to be stubborn, but I dont have .pal at all.
-
Ok....place the file on your desktop, backspace the .txt out and type in .pal The file is now renamed as a .pal then move it to your gr3 folder or where ever you want it to be.....
-
Let me make this clear: I have a computer IQ of 5
I did what you did, but it still isnt showing as a .pal document, so it wont display in the GR3 folder.
-
Would someone else chime in here.....please...
-
I'm sorry Doug. I dont mean to be so annoying....I'm just not very good at this :-(
-
Ok...just for fun..open notepad. Don't type anything just go to "file"....'save as'...in the box titled file name..type 'gr7.pal'...and save to desktop. Now on your desk top you will have a new file that may show up as gr7.pal.txt. Right click...rename....back out the .txt and you have an empty .pal file(document).
.....Maybe I am explaining this all wrong...
-
The only thing you are confusing me with now is that when I right click to rename, it dosent show the file type, it just shows the title, in this case Color Table.
-
Never mind the last comment, I got it to work. I think that I only have one more problem: When I try to load the colortable, it shows a display that reads:
Error reading color table
Units not specified, expected 'Units:[DBZ,KTS]'
Do you know what I did wrong? Here is my file.
-
Farmtalk,
I assume this is GR3. All of my colortables do not have the brackets[] or KTS in it, just DBZ as the first line.
Units: DBZ
Try that and see what happens
John
Edit: Spelling, punctuation #-o Thanks Curly for pointing out the symbols, too.
-
Yes, it is GR3. I put "Units: DBZ", and it still does not read it.
-
Okay,
I'm attaching one of the color tables I use. GR3 should be able to use it. If it sees it, you can modify it.
John
P.S. - This is a base reflectivity table.
-
What program can I open this with?
-
To open the .zip you can use 7Zip, which is free at File Hippo (http://www.filehippo.com/download_7zip_32/8754/).
John

I'll download it now and check it out. Thanks a lot!
-
I'm sorry....you can give up now if you want, but it wants to use adobe for some reason (Why?), but it wont open. I download 7zip, but I cant get it to use that program...
Could you copy the info in the file and display it here?
-
