Title: Toxic flood in Hungary
Post by: Aquatic on October 12, 2010, 01:55:22 AM
On Monday, October 4th, a large reservoir filled with toxic red sludge in western Hungary ruptured, releasing approximately 700,000 cubic meters (185 million gallons) of stinking caustic mud, which killed many animals, at least four people, and injured over 120 - many with chemical burns.

That was one incredible disaster!!! That stuff looked like it was toxic just to look at!  I have heard in the last couple days that the gunk has made it into the Danube river.  This sounds like it could be worse than it now looks.  Storing that kind of garbage in an earthen resevoir is criminal and I am glad they are looking to put some people in jail.  I don't know how they are going to clean that up.  It is everywhere.  But big messes have been cleaned up before. I hope and pray they get a handle on it.
