Topic: Coldest Air of Season Heading for Europe

Mild weather that has been dominating Europe so far this month will yield to a blast of harsh wintry cold early next week.

Temperatures during next week as a whole will slide well below normal, 10 degrees and more in some instances, over a wide swathe of Europe.

Cities such as London, Prague and Moscow will likely have their coldest weather all year.

Along with the cold will erupt outbreaks of snow, which could be heavy enough to disrupt ground and air transportation.
Strong high pressure centered near Scandinavia will force cold air out of Siberia, westward across all of Europe.
The Iberian Peninsula will begin to get the effects of this new pattern next week.

As I said in the past we have cold weather in these days. We had a temperatures below zero last seven days. It was -10,8°C yesterday at night. Today we are aspecting more degrees below zero. We have over 20 cm of snow. I am sad, becouse it will be +10°C in Tuesday.
Easy come and easy go, that we will say for the snow.

Thats great to here  the update on your weather, what is the coldest it gets there? Dont feel bad about the snow at least you have great mountains to go to  I've had a slow start for snow here . about 35 inches i believe it's around 70-75 cm . My area usually gets allot of snow most years.

I have the lowest temperature on my weather station since it was established. It was -14,7°C at 07:56 am. Many places over Slovenia has
-20°C in the morning. Current temperature is -7,2°C.

not bad , I would guess places more inland would seen allot colder temps. any body of large water can influence temps form a great distance.

Temperature is growing and it is positive now. We have a eight days temperatures below zero. It starts raining. All we can say it is bye, bye snow. It will be a green Christmas here in Slovenia.

Becouse of the fast warming and snow melting in these days, they are aspecting floods in Slovenia. We will have bad weather for the Christmas and New year. I will inform about weather in my country in the future.

Edit: In the NW part of Slovenia they have 129,3 mm of rain last nine hours.

Today it will start snowing in my country. Weather models shows that it will snow all week. We will see. I will post photos of weather conditions in the future.

We got plenty of snow here yesterday, i haven't measured how much but seems like 20-30cm.
Now we got it cold here, it was down at -13,1 this night and is this moment it is -11,5 and it shall get colder the next few days, so it's just to have fire in the fireplace and stay inside  

Shall try to get some pics and upload them, but it takes some time since I'm a bit slowly these days because I'm recovering after a hip transplant i had some time before Christmas.
As you can see at my webcam that points to the marina it's some ice there also, it's not often it get that way.
So as mention, it's cold!!!

You have my sympathy recovering from your hip operation. I had a hip replacement in August 2007, it does take a while to recover fully, but you will be fine when you have. I was just glad to see an end to the pain, months of not being able to sleep is very debilitating. The last thing you want now is to fall on the ice and snow, a dislocation would set you back many months.

Alan, thanks and yes the pains 24/7 was heavy, but that is almost over and it was good to get a hole night with sleep after the replacement. And i will not take any chances so i fall or something.
Like you say, spring is just around the corner. So until then i train indoor

It's getting colder here now brrrr, it has reached -14C now and still falling, so i just had to change my temp scale in the broadcast.jpeg. It seldom get this cold here so near to the coast, but i have plenty of firewood  We are expecting temps below -20C in the next few days, that's freezing cold here i mean.

Finally we get snow, a lot of snow. We have 40 cm of and is still snowing. Weather forcast is predicting that will be snowing all next week.

  SNOW glad to hear your getting snow and not the flooding   wow 15.74 inches I used metric conversion, thats a nice amount of snow.
Our snow is moving out and the week ahead looks to be little to no snow.

Now, when I am reporting it is 23:22 pm, and we have over 40 cm of snow. Tomorrow we are aspecting over 50 cm of snow. I will post photos, it is amazing.
