HOAs sometimes are a bit too overzealous. I have an HOA and I even was on the board for some years. I like having an HOA and some rules make sense. But some are overreaching. I bet you can challenge them and get them to approve your weather station. I recommend doing a few things. Put the data on the Internet. Definitely Weather Underground for sure. I dont know what other software or logger you may have so actually putting up a website with one of many popular templates could be even more appealing. But don't worry about that if that sounds like too much effort. Weather Underground is adequate. Then talk to your neighbors. Post on Nextdoor or community Facebook for you neighborhood if there is one. Share your station data link to Weather Underground or website. Then collect signatures of neighbors approving your station. Present the signatures and at the next HOA meeting and even bring in some supporters. Argue your point nicely. Give the analogy that when satellite TV dishes first came out (Direct TV and Dish) that many HOAs were apposed to them and reflect how ridiculous that now seems. You can win this.

I'm totally with galfert, at least try to get it to pass your HOA. I know lots of folks here have.  Come to think of it, I don't believe I saw any that didn't pass their HOAs.
