An old (~2008) Lightning Radar System

(1/2) > >>

UrbanStation:
Is anyone still using this system?

I used to keep in touch with the fellows who developed it; and acquired the boards back in '08.

However, recent e-mails to two of them have gone un-answered. I happen to have most of the components, I may try putting it together. Not to participate in the network (it doesn't seem anyone is on there anymore anyway) but to be used as just my own, personal detector.

Any thoughts?
Including scan of the boards.

Merry Christmas to All!

Unfortunately Frank Kooiman, the originator of this system died 5-6 years ago. IIRC it was in a road accident  :-(

UrbanStation:
Thanks. Sorry to learn. I was hoping that wasn't going to be the case.
The other fellow I e-mailed, was Gerry Gore (no reply).
People change e-mails all the time. But, I haven't been able to track him down anywhere.

Well, the boards have been scanned (both sides) just in case (?); now I'll build it, and see what happens...
Since Gerry and I corresponded quite a bit about this project: I'm fortunate enough to have lots of Info, parts list, schematics, hints & tips.

I'll document the build process on this little blog I just started - https://lightningdetectors.blogspot.com/
(in case anyone is interested)
