The link article mentions this technology is the same as your mobile phone and wireless router/WiFi but it really isn't. I have an old rechargeable electric toothbrush that uses this technology, inductive charging. You just drop it in it's recharge cradle that has no contacts. It is a good idea but the homes of the future are still going to need wires for anything that requires current/power like furnace heaters, air conditioning, electric stoves/ovens, microwaves, hair dryers, etc. ;)

And, the comment about it being safe doesn't take into account the effect of strong magnetic fields on people who have heart defibrillators and pacemakers. Both of those items are sensitive to magnetic fields which is why wearers of those devices cannot have MRI's.

Yes, I also have two new toothbrushes that are charged by a similar technology of no direct "wire" connections.

Same cautions with the new inductive stoves that are on the market. Cool tech but pricey for an item that you might not be able to use because of health reasons one day.

Hey, I've got enough stray H-field EMI around my place to power most anything... just drive by and wiggle your toothbrush, and it'll probably recharge... .

That was meant as a joke, because of the alleged conversation between Tesla and Westinghouse where Westinghouse asked where he could hang a meter on Tesla's wireless electricity tower and then cut off funding when he found out that the users couldn't be billed.....
