What does or doesn't work with VVP and v3.12 firmware?
« on: May 10, 2013, 11:09:12 AM »
I'm just trying to figure out what does and doesn't connect through Virtual VP with Davis' v3.12 firmware version.  If you've ran a program through VVP and the v3.12 firmware and it connected or didn't connect I'd like to know.

I've listed some programs that people have already mentioned...please post a reply if you've had a different experience or if something needs changing, correcting, or adding to the list...or if you have a comment about anything.

Thanks,
Ed

Programs that are reported to connect with VVP/v3.12:
Weather Link v5.8.1
Weather Link v5.8.2
Weather Link v5.8.3
WeatherLink (latest) v?? (v6.0.3?)
Cumulus (latest) v??
Weather Display v??

Programs that are reported that do not connect with VVP/v3.12:
Weather Link v5.9.0
Weather Link v6.0.2
WUHU v??
Virtual Weather Station v??

Davis VP2, v3.12
Cumulus v1.9.4  Build 1079

For me, I couldn't run VWS through VVP with v3.12. I have an older(2007) Davis VP2 console. I went back to v1.90 and all is good.   Jack
3 Davis set-ups...which one ya wanna talk about? And I got ALL my manuals....

For me, weatherlink 6.0.3 don't work with Virtual VP en firmware 3.12.

Back to firmware 1.90 and the combination works fine.

I ended up having to many errors trying to run VVP with the v3.12 Davis firmware so I took VVP out of the picture.  I am running Cumulus as my station and website uploader and it has been working great.  I run Weatherlink every couple of weeks to download the data from the logger.  For me, the Cumulus+VP2 combination works fine...I'm adding Saratoga templates at the moment and will add SS-gauges back to the website when I get a little more comfortable with PHP. ;)

For me, I decided to keep it simple and will let the brains around here work out a work-around or replacement for VVP...then I'll look again at port sharing. :)

Does anyone have a version of VWS that is working with Virtual VP?

I have an old Vantage Pro 1 that is dying and need to upgrade the VPro 2 but I currently use Virtual VP along with VWS and Cumulus.  It appears that any new VPro2 that I buy will have the new 3.12 firmware and I'm hoping that the datalogger will still work with VVP and VWS.

Any info or help here would be appreciated!
