I haven't started building my system yet.  I've read about the surge suppressors that are supposed to protect the adapter from lightning.  Has anyone found/used an inexpensive wireless connection that could segment the indoor and outdoor portions of the system.  I know they exist, but what I'm aware of is not inexpensive.

Obviously, power would also be an issue, but a power injector should solve that.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

The std. I-Wire weather kit contains a USB/1-Wire optocoupler adapter WSI603B that provides optoisolation.  No need to add anything.

Is it possible to get/build the optoisolater without purchasing the kit?

You can get opto-isolators starting at around 70 bucks.  Or build for maybe 10.  Lots of circuits exist for 1-wire isolation.  But if the WS has it - why??

I don't plan on buying the AAG Weather Station.  Therefore, I won't have/get the optoisolator.
