Is it back up?
« on: January 08, 2018, 12:39:22 PM »
I noticed that WU is mostly back up, but my data is very spotty and it says the station is nor reporting (it's reporting fine in weatherlink site and in cwop's findu)

So .. is WU just trying to get back to normal, or do I need further troubleshooting on my reporting pathway somehow?

Welp that settles it - thanks. I guess we'll just wait until they get their ducks in a row

I'm getting some very odd reporting from the WU website as well. Right now, it says my station isn't reporting and the graphs are all over the place; triangles.   (Vermont station is is showing the odd data, Connecticut station is fine currently)

Now, when I access my stations via the PWS Monitor app on my iPhone, everything is showing up fine. Oddly, that app pulls all data right from WU. So must be a website issue at this point. It seems data is there, it's just not reporting out on the website correctly.

*Edit: CT station just went offline on the website...fine on the app.

If they specialize in hacking, could be trying to obfuscate, instead of communicate...
As I recall, some have noticed that local time sometimes seems to go 'wrong'. I've forgotten whether the tabular history shows both local time and gmt.
If not, one can use WxDisplayHistory.asp, which is the underlying script used by wu for history. Use parameter graphspan=day. 1st field of each record should be local time, and last field gmt. If the time offset is wrong, good chance wu has returned data for est, instead of local time zone.

Yeah random S#^T happening here too. screenshots below within a minute of each other:

Also ftp webcam works sometimes, then fails with authentication issues (I'm using the same details) then it works again.... images are below 150kb and uploaded more than 60 seconds apart.

I guess WU didnt fix their issues before, they were just sleeping...

Yep but that was 6 Days ago.  does WU have an SLA with their hosts?

more likely to be issues with Intel patching due to the timing of this latest occurrence.

Was going to say mine has been happy here lately but it now seems WU has crashed and burned again. Station not reporting no webcam.

same here as well as all the other local stations I query but the Mobile app seems to be working just fine.  Seems to be mostly just the PC application interface.

Nobody gives SLAs any more, or if they do the "penalty" amounts to nothing. Like Amazon Prime's shipping, where the guaranteed 2-day delivery means that if it doesn't come in 2 days, shipping is free (which it is anyway).

If you talk to their customer service, they'll typically give you some candies --- either an extra 1 month of prime, or $5 credit, or something. Keep the sheeps happy.

I got the graph triangles this morning also. Seems to work well at times and other times not at all or bad looking data like today

Here's an interesting tidbit...It appears my reporting intervals have increased. I have way more data points for my wind direction than usual. Temp graphs (minus the triangles) have more reporting points as well.

yep looks like reporting every minute instead of 5 minutes.  Just when you think it can't get any more fubar, a new fubar standard is set.

They are definitely still having severe server/network issues. The WU connection log on my meteobridge has looked like this for most of the day.. I'm configured for every 10 seconds:

I don't think they're backed up but getting worst.  Now My Weather Station page shows that I have no station registered with WU at all.

Their API page latest update mention that they have problem with their cloud servers.  May be it is raining.

Put a fork in wu, I think they are done. If they do go down ( Highly Likely ) Wonder what Acurite is going to do as all their PWS they sold that do report only reports to wu. Looks like I have to get off my lazy butt, dump wu and send my data to CWOP.............................

If only there was some sort of information service that we could use to check...

Send out an update to report somewhere else.  myAcurite is already structured to support other sharing services.
