Starting VWS On New Operating System
« on: August 01, 2015, 07:25:21 PM »
I want to upgrade to Windows 10 with a clean install.  I will lose all of VWS.  What do I need to keep so that I won't lose my data?  I see that the Data, Metar, Root and Setup folders have current (today's) files.  Can I just copy those 4 folders back into VWS after re-installing it?

I found the answer in the Help/Assistant files in VWS.  Turns out you have to copy all the files and then re-install VWS over them.  There are additional steps if you copy to a different path, or copy first to a CD.  I'm good now.

I essentially did the same thing but went to a new computer that had a fresh install of Windows 7 on it. It was quick, easy and simple to do. The instructions can also be found on the Ambient Weather website as follows:
Best of luck!
