I followed some directions on disabling LOOP2 in CumulusMX.  My VP2 is older 1.8 firmware and can't do LOOP2 anyway.  That still didn't fix the issues when using MX and IP configuration.

But with LOOP2 disabled in MX and configuring MX to use COM1, it works just fine now.

92merc, small world, I've been using VVP, Weatherlink, and VPlive in addition to VWS as well.  I set this up years ago and didn't recall why I setup VPlive, since I'm not doing anything with its data, although seeing your post makes me think it was probably to keep the console time up to date, had long forgotten about that, thanks.  Now running Weather Display in addition to all the above.  My VP2 is also on the 1.8 firmware.

Could you please tell me how you got the sky icon in the center of your "Current Conditions"?
I'm not happy with the solution I found.
Thanks

Workarounds I have applied:

Forecast:  Weatherforyou 7 day sticker, easy Modification.

Mesonet:  redirects to WU mesonet and also joined Southwestern Weather Network, in the Scotts Valley CA station)

Alerts:  use RSS feed from feed wind and added php script for details From Saratoga Weather (Ken True has helped me-  needs PHP5.4+)

Hi,

I upload icon.jpg as part of the html file uploads every 5 mins.

You go into VWS Icon settings to have it generate the icon.jpg file.

I use Metar with Smart forecast override to get a reasonable Sky conditions.  I override the icon rain based on rain rate, etc.

Then I edited the USA.htx (which generated index.html) to reference icon.jpg instead of pointing to wundergrounds icon..

here is the snip:

<td bgcolor="#CCCCFF" height="19"><b><font face="Arial">Current Conditions

I've looked at the popular replacements for VWS but I like the updates to other non WU sites VWS supports. Is there one out there that does them all as well?

Like most of you I have been making changes to the VWS template gathering data from other sources to fix the broken WU data. I've started loading seven day forecast from weatherforyou.com which I like and can live with. I have also replaced the broken local radar from WU with working live radar from WU. And I'm using a NOAA feed for the visible satellite feed. I also replaced the warnings with weatherforyou.com's but I can't find a warning text feed. Maybe RSS?

I'm still looking for solutions for mesonet and almanac data. I have a WU API key so in theory I could replace the missing WU items with API data but I'm unsure if I can add the data to the existing database in VWS or do I need to populate another database and reference that in the template? Anyone successfully using the free API to pull data and add it to existing VWS site?

Thanks
Brian

Original template started from Ambient VWS Website builder,  been hacking away at it over the years.
