Update 2............

WooooHoooo! Two full days and not a single drop!
I think this time it's for real! Thanks to everyone for all of the help with this! I can't tell you how nice it is to be in the same room with the console and not hear that dreadful "beep" when a sensor would go....and for me, that used to happen a couple of times an hour!

Just a quick (and probably last) follow up, the antenna mod is a huge success! One week later and not one single miss. If you have a wmr200 and are having reception issues, do the mod!

I have the wmr88,  ik want to do the same!  place an external antenna to my wmr88  just 5 meters away from the anemometer and only 1 window between the sensors and the console and i have no signal here.  But how to open the console of the wmr88?

Seeing as this post has been revived. What would a 2.4GHZ antenna do connected the the sma. Would it damage the unit or just not work correctly?

You probably wouldn't gain much, if any, performance using a 2.4Ghz antenna on a 433Mhz receiver. You would be better off  cutting a piece of stiff wire to 173mm (1/4λ) and connecting that in.

Try this thread: http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=18746.0

Helped me open mine and I have now added an external connector.

I have anywhereweather station and sensors sometimes dont report for 30 min not the shorter 5 min interval.  I have tested the sensor 5 feet from receiver so don't think this would help or would it for some strange reason?

Hello!

This is my version of an external antenna for WMR200.

The antenna is made up of copper wire, assembled with a screw terminal block. Antenna length is 217 cm; cable length is more than 20 meters. Installed on a mast on the roof, near the weather sensors. To connect the antenna use a BNC connector.

Station is receiving data from Wind Speed Sensor - every 14 seconds, from other sensors - every 60 seconds (documentation as specified).
