New Forecast Icons
« on: September 30, 2010, 06:00:32 PM »
I created some modified forecast icons that I'll share if anyone would like them. You can see them in action here ( http://www.daculaweather.com/forecast.php ).
There are two sizes available. The size on my site are the same dimensions as the original images but the actual picture is smaller due to the addition of the drop-shadow. The larger image has the same size picture but the dimensions are larger due to the drop-shadow. Oh yea, the corners are rounded! They're made to be used with Ken's forecast script http://saratoga-weather.org/scripts-carterlake.php#advforecast
I never thought about how many images this was until I had to modify each one individually (418 to be exact!)   Also, because of the drop shadow, you'll need to use these on a white or very light background.

Think you're right!!!  The folder I have them in is rounded... I just got carried away with the "ed"! Corrected!

Thank you.

Do they show the percent chance of precip?  :-P

I love the way they look - as usual, great job Steve but every time I check your site, it's always "Sunny In Dacula"

They do!
We are so behind on rain it's not funny. I'm starting to hate sunny weather. They're now saying not a chance of rain until next Tue-Wed time frame and not much of a chance then. No rain at all this month.  :-(

Sorry to bring this up, but I found an error with 3 of the large images.

nrasn40.jpg the graphic has been cropped to the small size (the 40% is almost completely removed)
cloudy40.jpg & cloudy70.jpg are not rounded

I love the way they look, if I can just get the large images to display at the correct size.

I have edited advforecast2.php so that it now reads height="66" width="63" - but it continues to specify that the images be displayed as 58 x 55. ](*,)

I have the correct images in the forecast/images folder

Here's one of them. I'll take a look at what I did (or didn't) do to the other ones.

For some reason I'm seeing it as 54 x 58, instead of 63 x 66.

Sorry

With the new dual-image forecast icons now in use, it may be a good idea to "unsticky" (or even remove) this post...to avoid confusing any new forum users.
