WiFi ObserverIP Version May Become Available
« on: January 19, 2019, 10:08:42 PM »
While browsing Fine Offset's website I stumbled on model WH2650.
http://www.foshk.com/Wifi_Weather_Station/WH2650.html

At first glace it looks like an Osprey outdoor array sensor with an ObserverIP. But the description says WiFi support! So this can't be the same old ObserverIP that is Ethernet only. But looking at the picture it looks like it is identical to the Ethernet ObserverIP we all know. But it has to be different inside to support WiFi.

Then I was looking through Alibaba and saw a different picture of the WiFi ObserverIP. This one clearly has the LED lights that indicate it supports the WiFi. The Fine Offset website probably just has a wrong picture associated.

So it could be that Ambient soon starts selling this newer ObserverIP WiFi version. I hope it has more power than the Ethernet version that sometimes seems to be plagued by slowdown interface.

Hmm..

I guess links on Alibaba are not like Amazon where even after a product is no longer available the link still works. I guess it is more like eBay where they disappear. That is why I'm glad I copied the product picture that I inserted to remain visible here.

I have a European clone of this one. The bridge is Wi-fi, and works exceptionally well. I am using with weeWX on a Pi along with the interceptor driver. The Pi is also setup as an access point. It is as solid as a rock. Not one single disconnection in the months it has been running.

steepleian,
Very nice. Thanks for sharing. Does it also have Ethernet port? What reseller brand is it?
