Mesowest updates
« on: May 15, 2015, 06:03:43 PM »
For those of us who have their data posted there and are seeing delayed data or none at all, I've e-mailed MADIS about it because Mesowest tells me they are transitioning to a new transmission format. These poor updates have been on going for at least three months so I queried them on a time frame and will post their reply for those concerned. It's getting old.

I've noticed same thing with Mesowest. Data for cwop stations in my area have been missing good part of day. When it does work they lag behind 45+ minutes at times also. The new data acquisition is failing for sure. I really liked Mesowest, was my second favorite website behind mine.

Well, it's now 6 hrs. since the last update. The MADIS site itself is updating pretty much on schedule (which basically sucks with at least an hour delay), however, getting the data to Mesowest is another matter. ](*,)

I emailed them also. They are usually responsive but its after hours now. Have a feeling this goes a little deeper than quick fix.

Upon further thought, where do these folks get there data from? It must be Mesowest/MADIS, no? So it in my mind it will go down just as my NWS feed has of late, so we shall see. If it does, thanks for trying anyway.

No idea, but anyone willing to pay for it can get data directly from MADIS. WU is one that seems to have done so.

Just heard back from MADIS, message below.

I think Mesowest meant a new computer center instead of format.
There is a throughput issue that ops is working on a change (RFC) to solve,
but that should have only delayed the data.  Are you having issue downloading data
from  MADIS or seeing timely updates on MesoWest display?

The only issue I know with the CWOP data format is with solar radiation.
MADIS transitioned to Operations at NWS.  The version transitioned
did not have the solar variable for CWOP in it.  We have a deficiency upgrade in
the works to fix this problem.

Got a similar reply the other day.

"Matt,

If no one has gotten back to you, let me try to help.

I'm familiar with one solar radiation issue with CWOP.

the works to fix this problem.  I don't know when the upgrade will be.

if your issue is a different one, please explain it to me.
