Is it ok to invoke mesomap-update-utility.php on sites when stations are missing?

Why not? The site owner might appreciate the update.

It is tampering with their site. Ask permission or for them to fix it.

Midwestern Weather Network update scripts
« on: December 24, 2014, 09:38:22 AM »
On sites that have a Midwestern Weather Network affiliation, I often see outdated maps. This is primarily due to my own station not appearing. In a couple of cases I have asked the website owner to update it, which they did. This probably affects other similar regional networks, but I have not dug into it.

All the while the "hacker" little-devil-on-the-shoulder says just go ahead and run the update script for them. mesomap-update-utility.php

I am not inclined to alter someone's website without their permission though. (the little-angel-on-the-other-shoulder)

What is the best way to deal with this?

I would say you should ask.  That being said I would love if I was contacted and told there is a more updated script I can use!

The mesomap-update-utility.php on my site dates back to 2009, and when run my site's php complains about the deprecated 'split()' function on line 327.  This should be replaced by 'explode()' using the same syntax.

However, the update still occurs despite the warnings about the deprecated 'split()'...

I, for one, had completely forgotten about this script!  Sorry. :-(
