Carter Lake Ajax/Php and WXSIM
« on: October 16, 2008, 04:18:31 PM »
Hi All,

I am having an issue with the ajax_dashboard.php.  The current screen shows Tonight and Friday's outlook and the NWS forecast icons are correct showing "Tonight" and "Friday" The WXSIM forecast is then "out of sync" so to speak since my last forecast was at Noon.  I hope this make some sense.

Sure, makes sense.  The NWS forecast changes about every 6 hours for point forecasts.

The NWS forecast on your site is from Thursday, 16-Oct-2008 03:55 pm and starts with 'Tonight'
The WXSIM forecast on your site is from 16-Oct-2008 03:55 pm , but starts with 'This Afternoon'

Currently, there's no way to uniformly detect/correct this offset in the scripts (as the NWS uses a different set of verbiage for the 'current' period in the first icon position than WXSIM does).  I try to minimize the problem by running the forecast for WXSIM every 2 hours on the :45 minute mark .. for me, it keeps them reasonably in sync.

Best regards,
Ken
